JS Dupuis Joins Homer St. Cafe and Bar and Tableau Bar Bistro as Beverage Director

Tableau Bar Bistro and Homer St. Cafe and Bar are thrilled to announce JS Dupuis is returning to the team, starting as Beverage Director on April 3, 2017. JS has a long history with the two establishments, having served as Tableau’s Bar Manager from 2011 to 2014, and as a member of the opening team at Homer St. Cafe and Bar in 2013. After time spent in sales with Charton-Hobbs and mixing cocktails at Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar, he is being welcomed back to Tableau and Homer St., where he will oversee bar staff training and drinks lists.

"I believe the first step in any dining experience should always be a great cocktail,” says JS. “I’m excited to add more French influence at Tableau, like introducing some of my favourite European aperitifs, while at Homer St. I’ll be focusing on food-friendly cocktails and showcasing some of the city’s best craft beers.”

JS has built a reputation as an exceptional host, and the Tableau and Homer St. teams are thrilled to welcome him back behind the bar. Raised in Repentigny, a suburb just outside of Montreal, JS first began bartending in college, and immediately was drawn to the hospitality aspect of the job. In 1999 he moved to Whistler, where he gave ski lessons during the day and bartended at night. In 2006, JS landed a job bartending at Whistler’s Bearfoot Bistro, and was later appointed Beverage Director to manage the cocktail program. At Bearfoot he opened the now-famous Ice Room to educate and serve customers high-quality vodka, which became a bucket list item for many visitors to Whistler. An award-winning bartender, in 2012 JS won the Belvedere Bloody Caesar Challenge. He was also named BC’s Most Imaginative Bartender by Bombay Sapphire in 2013, and in 2016 was awarded Vancouver’s Best Bartender by the Westender newspaper.
